Mission Statement

The SerpentStone Website is dedicated to the memory of our friend and teacher Serphant. We sincerely hope that it will help foster the values of family, community, and dedication to Deity that he held dear during his time with us by being the following:
  1. The online community center for the SerpentStone Family providing a venue for members to publish articles on a range of topics including religion, lifestyle, and magick.
  2. A resource for members of the greater pagan community who are looking for information on SerpentStone gatherings.
  3. A source of information for anyone interested in the Craft or paganism in general.

Since we believe all spiritual paths are sacred and object to the practice of proselytizing, we will never use this site as a means of "converting" anyone or recruiting new members nor will we knowingly post anything here that is intentionally insulting or defamatory.

The SerpentStone family does not officially endorse any business -- pagan-owned or otherwise -- and does not use this web site as a means of making a profit. We believe such a commercial focus would detract from our spiritual and community focus.

If you find something here that helps you on your path -- whatever it may be -- we are glad to have shared it with you; if you do not, we wish you a good journey and send our wishes that you may find what you seek elsewhere.

Editorial Policy

Original articles, poems, meditations, etc. may be submitted for publication on the SerpentStone web site via e-mail. To submit a work send it to the Web Team. The work may be included in the body of the message (preferred) or sent as an attachment. By submitting a work for publication here, you agree to the following terms:
  1. We have your consent to publish the work on the web site. You, the work's author, will retain all rights to the work. You are only granting us the right to use it on the web site free of charge.
  2. If necessary, we may make minor edits necessary to correct spelling, punctuation, or grammar. If any change that could alter the meaning or style of a work is deemed necessary, we will contact you to discuss it before we publish the work.

Works submitted for publication will be evaluated by the members of the web team and selected by a simple majority using the following criteria:

  1. The work must be an original work of your own creation with no third-party holding a copyright that would prevent us from publishing it without their approval.
  2. The work should be compatible with the values of the SerpentStone family as expressed in "What is SerpentStone?" and in the mission statement of this web site. Works that contain anything obviously intended to be inflammatory or defamatory will be rejected.
  3. Anyone may request a link be added to the "Magickal Links" page, but articles submitted for the "Wisdom and Musings" section of the web site must be submitted by SerpentStone members.

Note:  Submit "Serpent's Voice" newsletter articles to Obsidian.

  • Submission of works or links that are purely commercial advertising is strongly discouraged since they add little, if any real content to the site. If you want us to add a link to your site, please make sure it provides some useful non-commercial content.
  • Keeping a web site up to date can be very time consuming so it is important that works submitted for publication be in formats that are easy for the person who is going to post them to the web to work with. "ASCII text" is the preferred format and is what you will be using if you simply copy and paste the text of your work into the body of the e-mail message you send to submit it. If you would rather send the work as an attachment, MS Word '97, WordPerfect 8, and Rich Text Format (RTF) are also acceptable. HTML, other word document program files, and snail-mailed printed copy are not acceptable. If your work cannot be submitted in an acceptable format, contact the web team to discuss options.

You will be notified of the web team's decision regarding your submission by e-mail within two weeks of the time you submit your work. If your work is selected for publication, please reply to the notification message to confirm that you want your work published. If your work is rejected, we will explain why in the rejection letter.

Typical articles, meditations, essays, etc. will be published within three weeks of their approval. Gathering information and preregistration forms will be available immediately after the previous gathering ends, provided the Web Team has received this information from the gathering coordinator for the next gathering. This information will be updated as needed as the time for the gathering draws near. Serpent's Voice newsletters will be published no later than three weeks after the web team receives them from the editors.
